October 30, 2009: GGE Awarded DOE Grant for Gabbs Valley Project

WASHINGTON, DC October 30, 2009 — GeoGlobal Energy LLC (GGE), a geothermal investment and development company, announced today that it has been awarded a US $4 million grant by the US Department of Energy, via the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The grant was awarded for validation of innovative geothermal exploration technologies at GGE’s Gabbs Valley prospect, located in Nevada’s Nye and Mineral counties. GGE acquired Gabbs at the July 2009 BLM auction.

GGE’s proposal is to integrate several well-established rock mechanical technologies from mining, geotechnical, and academic practice but novel to geothermal exploration. GGE staff will use these technologies to locate blind geothermal resource upflow along faults away from the range front at Gabbs.

Upon making this announcement, GGE’s President Michael Van Vleck said "GGE is honored to receive this grant under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. These monies will help create jobs and encourage our country’s economic recovery. More importantly, these monies will facilitate America’s pursuit of domestic, renewable energy."
